This pestilent fruit fly from Asian origin has found its way to Europe and is a true problem for the amateur gardener as well as the professional fruit grower. In France entire grape harvests have been damaged with massive financial losses as a result. Not only grapes are on the menu, but other types of berries and small fruit as well: strawberries cherries, peaches, raspberries etc… The difference with other types of fruit flies is the preference of the suzuki fly’s kind of fruit to lay their eggs. There are a number of different pesticides, but most are prohibited. Henceforth, shielding your crops with nets, with a maze smaller than the fly (i.e. no larger than 2 to 4mm) is your safest bet. It is also the most environmentally friendly way of protecting your crop against the Suzuki fly. If you are interested in our project, please contact us.
